Nava pH Decreaser (sodium bisulfate) is used to lower the pH which has a recommended range of 7.2 to 7.6. High pH causes the chlorine to be "sluggish" or altogether ineffective. High pH will contribute to scale formation. Maintaining the proper pH range is also important to swimmer comfort.
